Historically, Team Lease-IIJT largest target segment had been the traditional Dual Qualification (DQ) student, who did not qualify for Engineering & Medical studies. With the explosion in the Private Engineering colleges in the last 8-10 years, majority of the DQ segment has moved to Engineering colleges. Further, with higher entry level criterion degree colleges are also attracting good quality DQ students for B.Sc. /B.Com /BA BBA etc. for the past few years.
The numbers of engineering institutions have grown by three fold in last six years and this has led to opening of huge number of seats for all the engineering branches, though students from Tier-A colleges are in demand while most other Engineering college students find it difficult to get suitable jobs - as quality of teaching & non availability of campus placement are major issues for most of the engineering colleges today. Further, with the a low hiring sentiment for IT and other related branches during the last 2 years more students are signing up for non-IT, “Core” branches.
In addition to the above scenario, many students during the past 2-3 years are signing up for B.Sc., B.Com & BA courses at prominent colleges with an aim of continuing with higher professional studies.
At TeamLease – IIJT, we follow the retail model where students approach us at our centers or we reach out to them in their colleges & make available for them – program offerings commensurate with their needs. However, in most cases, college students find our offering not suiting their needs, with regard to course duration and price. Further there is always an issue of travel time to the nearest IIJT centre for the program since time is also a big constraint.
Due to the above, we find a large segment of our target audience sitting inside college campuses who cannot be serviced by IIJT
IIJT’s Educational Institutional Alliance was created as an initiative that is aimed at serving as a bridge between education and industry by providing skills that are sought after by the industry by delivering quality training within the college campus at a time convenient to the students. The aim was to help the students get better placement and the industry to get better trained resources, who can be productive from the very first day. During the past 2 years, we at IIJT had tried to service the engineering college segment with Employability Assessment solution and training programs.
Based on our experiences in the Institutional Space, we have observed that:
- • Engineering students study additional programs in IT, like class X or XII students avail additional coaching in Maths or Science.
- • There is a very high demand for skill enhancement and placement support in Pvt Engineering colleges, many of whom are keen to associate with professional institutes & IT vendors, to bridge the gaps caused by inadequate learning and weak campus recruitment.
The above highlights the core competence of TeamLease –IIJT Educational Institutional Alliances as a : one –stop Employment oriented Skills service provider for students of a College or Group of Colleges.
